Why I Swim

Hi, I’m Martin Asebedo.  I’m just a regular guy with a big goal: to swim every day and use my journey to encourage others to take care of their health, no matter their age, size, or skill level.

Swimming has been a part of my life for a long time.  It’s more than a workout, it’s therapy, it’s peace, it’s discipline. Every time I hit the water, I feel stronger mentally and physically.  That’s why I created Swim With Martin, to show how something as simple as swimming can have a lifelong impact on your body and your mind.

This isn’t about breaking records.  It’s about showing up every day, putting in the work, and hopefully inspiring a few others to do the same.  I believe fitness should be accessible, fun, and something we can carry with us throughout life.

What This Journey Means to Me:

  • To raise awareness about the benefits of swimming

  • To lead by example

  • To encourage people to find their version of daily movement

  • To create a community that supports lifelong health

If my swims help one person feel encouraged to move their body, take control of their health, or simply feel better, then it’s all worth it.

Thanks for being here.  I’m glad we’re in this together.

"Just keep swimming, just keep Swimming"

- Dora From Finding Nemo

The main reason I swim is for my friends and family who can’t.  Every lap I take is a reminder of the people I care about, those who never had the chance to learn or who face barriers that keep them out of the water.  I swim for them.  And while I genuinely appreciate the recognition, like earning an American Red Cross towel after hitting 15 miles, that towel represents more than just a reward, it’s a symbol of dedication, purpose, and the people I’m swimming for.

At the end of the day, I do it for the towel.
